The announcement of the first VR headsets is Sebastian interested in technology. With PSV he had his first own glasses and was happy for years. Thanks to the stagnated hardware, he rose to the Oculus Quest and can always be enjoyed by VR games. The most important thing for him is comfort and fast construction of the headsets. PSV 2 has to claim himself for him in many ways against the wireless quest.
Otherwise, the two halves are distributed the buttons that you would expect. There are four Face buttons, four shoulder buttons divided here in grip and trigger buttons. There are finally two analog sticks as well as Create and Options.
PSV 2: These are the first games!
Even if Sony is not really compromising so far, there are some indie studios that have already confirmed that they will publish their titles for PSV 2.
Low-Fi : Fans of Cyberpunk can dive here directly into the setting. You drive here through a futuristic world, interacts with people and as a kind of policeman for law and order — if you want it. Playful freedom is very important. Pavlov Shack : Behind it hides a multiplayer shooter, reminiscent of Counter-Strike. On several maps and game modes, you are in the middle of the warfare with your teammates.
promising but still too many question marks
My first look at PSV 2 is quite positive. Sony was with its VR glasses 2016 absolute pioneer for a mainstream approach, which has brought the virtual reality area forward. Meanwhile, the headset is clearly outdated, and the manufacturer has also recognized.
Especially the controller with the new motion detection system and some gaming families from dual sense, will help me to dive even deeper into the games. Although the design is strongly reminiscent of the market leaders, but by better vibration alone, the controllers could have their nose.
Overall, however, it still remains to vague what PSV 2 is really on the box now. How does it look like? How does tracking work? What is the cable management? How does the glasses feel on their heads for a long time? These are just a few of the many questions that are still dealing with me before doing at all on games, graphics and the like. Here I just hope that Sony soon returns and present the first content.
How to work PSV on the PS5
Since not much on the old hardware has changed on the PS5, you will find the slightly adapted text of my experiences with the old PSV on the PlayStation 5 from last year:
PSV downward compatibility: shorter loading times and nothing else
If your PSV wants to use on the PS5, it works exclusively on the backward compatibility of the new console. Sony itself refers to the device as a legacy hardware and therefore will not publish significant updates for this. In the test I could only make up an improvement, which was consistently every game: shorter loading times.
If you install the games on the internal SSD, you benefit from the speed of more powerful hardware. Especially in VR is the best case for a significantly better charging time as at Marvel s Iron Man VR. But otherwise the loading times in VR games are much more pleasant on the PlayStation 5.
Some of the following times I have tested myself, with others I take the times of uploader as the basis. In addition, the measured charging time is always the change from the menu to a level of the respective games.
The last bucklers are eliminated: Lastly, there were some VR games on the standard PS4, which had to fight with variable frame rate for some objects or some backlogs. On the PS5 every game runs in its best possible shape and also titles like No Man s Sky or Iron Man VR without the bucklers of the standard PS4.
Otherwise no improvements? In fact, VR games do not automatically benefit from the Game Boost of the PS5. This is because the titles almost never used technical adjustments, such as dynamic resolutions or models with different details. For PSV, it was more about achieving a minimum of stable 60 fps at any time — therefore technical specifications were fixed.

Blood & TRUTH as a groundbreaking VR game
Some were few PSV games added on the first year of time, that of the hardware power of PS5 benefit through improved loading times out. (Via Reddit )

Firewall disappointed: The multiplayer shooter Counter Strike fans has indeed received a PS5 update, but frankly, this is not a noticeable difference. Everything flickers continue and it hardly looks better. To announce this update, the then rather a disappointment.
The true future: However, there is a bright star in the sky VR. A game that shows how awesome VR could look at the PS5: the single-player shooter Blood & Truth.
As the only game it has got a real upgrade that me has really carved out the socks. In direct comparison, the game works on the PS4 as if I stare through a blurred camera to a filmed screen of a PS3 game. In short: In a direct comparison is just not a pleasant experience more. The edges flicker, texts can barely read, character models are in the distance to a Pixelbook.
This makes the PS5 version as well: Not only are all these problems eliminated on the PS5, but it improves the overall feel. By the liquid 90 Hz the game looks much more immersive. I ll be a part of the entire world as well as the history and does not need me think, Look, the gangster behind looks like a PS1 game.
Ingenious feel & wasted potential
The short Preview Blood & Truth but has taken me literally VR veil from the eyes. I myself do not have much experience with VR on the PC, but was always more in the world of PSV and Oculus Quest go. Therefore, me is such a quality still new, when I can read even the smallest text razor sharp. The opponents are in high resolution, and it feels for the first time for me, as if a generation VR is also visually come on.
Sony does not care: But now I will not want to miss the and that s my big problem of backward compatibility. Blood & Truth shows that there is life in PSV headset plugged in. This potential, however, given away by Sony by Abwatschen it as a legacy device. There are also 2021 still VR games out, such as Hitman 3, but a native PS5 VR game will not give it. Whether here also making use of the Game Boost, is also not fixed. It would be desirable but.
In the end, it would perhaps have been better if no VR game had benefited from the PS5. Then I do not know namely how well VR can look at the next-gen. Blood & Truth scratched just the surface of what is possible — and with the old PSV hardware. Now I have in the future and will have looked impatiently at least one further if not even wait another two years until (hopefully) PSV 2 appears.
